Even if NY's Finest had the elite rappers on it, it still wouldn't be a good album. A producer album simply needs good beats, cause they can even make the mediocre rappers sound allright. NY's Finest obviously failed in that aspect. I can't think of a single producer album that is good because of the guest rappers only on it while having mediocre beats.
Hip Hop history has shown that once you release one half-assed album, it's usually over for your career. Pete Rock better step his game up for whatever next project he has in store.

The movie was trash to him, I don't think that will be a particularly easy thing to take in even with him holding the highest contempt for people making noise during films.
The two reasons he did it:
A) His dislike of the film being heightened by descending into random hardcore sex.
B) The critics applauding this, because the critics at Cannes will applaud the stupidest things if they are a edgy and/or not in keeping of the tone of the movie.
I've been at a few screenings with people in the audience heckling. I just found it laughable, with some of the rubbish that was brought to multi plexes in the past few years. I'm not condoning what the dude did, I just found it pretty funny.
