I'm seeing Wire actors all over the place now on the small and large screens. Of course, they gotta pay the rent somehow. And the RYM donations. Bubbles does a splendid job in the label queue. Or maybe that's randakk. They do spend a lot of time in Maryland, though.RedZeppelin @ 01/07/2009 08:06 PM : Re: scientific attempt at most wanted and least wanted song
Komar & Melamid and David Soldier's list of undesirable elements included holiday music, bagpipes, pipe organ, a children's chorus and the concept of children in general (really?), Wal-Mart, cowboys, political jingoism, George Stephanopoulos, Coca Cola, bossanova synths, banjo ferocity, harp glissandos, oompah-ing tubas
sounds like Sufjan StevensTorc @ 01/07/2009 08:05 PM : Re: Pearl Jam live (and others?)
I feel some pain and lightheadedness when I have to do that, yes.Genesis_Jaime @ 01/07/2009 08:04 PM : Re: Top 10 of 2008
I can't imagine shelling out the cash it would take to go to the cinema enough times to have seen enough films that I had to cut the list down to a top 10 per year. I went to the cinema maybe once in '08. And I'm a film enthusiast and student.splitenzfreak @ 01/07/2009 08:03 PM : Re: The Lindsey Buckingham Appreciation Society
His guitar work on The Dance is amazing, especially that melodically flowing part-Spanish/part-classical style on the lighter songs. What sort of guitar is that... [wi:LBTD] ?joshua_henry_snape @ 01/07/2009 08:02 PM : Ironically, the bands mentioned on here are quite popular.
Devil Doll to me really are teetering on the edge between experimental rock and experimental metal. The guitars (albeit rarely prominent) have a certain aesthetic of metal music even if they aren't particularly that heavy or chaotic. The vocals have that "I am the lord of insert generic ominous name of place" attitude and it's all a bit dark. Can't really put my finger on why but to me they are metal. Even the pianos through "Eliogabulus" are as metallic as zinc.divided @ 01/07/2009 08:00 PM : Re: Medieval significance in Metal Music???
medieval history was awesome. who wouldn't want to be a part of that? and, it's a big part of history, especially european history. what do we (Americans) have to sing about? the civil war?elgringocolombiano @ 01/07/2009 08:00 PM :
G.O.Z. said: I will agree that post-Soul Survivor Pete Rock wasn't the same calibur as Pete Rock of the early/mid '90s, but I hardly consider that "falling off". The beats on PeteStrumentals... imho PeteStrumentals is a dope slept-on instrumental hip hop album. imho, superior to the stanned-on J Dilla "Donuts", for instance.streetmouse @ 01/07/2009 07:59 PM :

Props for putting WALL·E over The Dark Knight.divided @ 01/07/2009 07:58 PM : Re: scientific attempt at most wanted and least wanted song
those are both hilarious. most unwanted? i'd listen to that a hundred times before i'd listen to anything by nirvana.

Steve Earle Revolution Starts Now Rock Music Cd Review
By Clyde Lee Dennis

Revolution Starts Now is the latest Rock CD released by the richly talented Steve Earle who once again has delivered a brilliant collection of tracks. I’m confident Steve Earle fans, and Rock fans alike will be pleased with this one.

Refreshingly, this was one of those CDs I was able to just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

Revolution Starts Now is a nicely varied, mix of 11 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly gifted artist. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Seemingly drawing from what I can only imagine are him own real life experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions like love, heartbreak, pain, failed relationships and unattainable romance. They’re all here.

If you’re a Steve Earle fan, or just a fan of Rock this is a CD your collection simply should not be without.

While the entire CD is outstanding the truly standout tunes are track 1 - The Revolution Starts Now, track 9 - I Thought You Should Know, and track 11 - The Revolution Starts Now.

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 5 - The Gringo's Tale. Wow!
