According to our guidelines, "with", "feat." and "featuring" are all words that would normally be capitalized. Is there an exemption to this? Should these even be included in profiles?ClintRuin @ 01/07/2009 08:19 PM : No fucking way the rapping on that Cypress Hill album is bad. So many of those songs are classics musically AND lyrically. B-Real started to repeat himself a TON starting with the second album though, which resulted in a full-on falloff by the time IV came out.
The beats on that new Pete Rock album never rise above "okay". Any random NY producer could have made them. The 3 or whatever songs I liked on it were actually saved by the rapping, if anything.

*DING DING DING!* Here's our disagreement right here! You say that good beats can make mediocre rappers sound alright and that's true. But I think good raps could make mediocre beats sound alright too. I don't necessarily mind the questionable production on [i]2Pacalypse Now[/i] or any of the K-Rino albums I've heard because great performances from 2Pac and K-Rino made those beats work. The production for those albums would sound horrible by themselves, matched with half-assed raps from 'Pac or K-Rino, matched with a wack rapper, or matched with the inappropriate rapper.
Rapping and beats work together. If one fails, it threatens to drag down the other one with it. It doesn't always happen, but it can happen. That's what happened with [i]NY's Finest[/i] (I already know you don't agree and you're probably tired of arguing about this). That's my opinion anyway.

You missed a key point. I'm talking about producer albums with guests. An album like that will never have incredible lyrics, or any theme. It's just drop good beats for rappers to rap over.
